2023 Statement Amsterdam:
High velocity trend cycles got you down? Or is your f*cked attention span getting the best of you? Perhaps you are struggling to feel like yourself - or even find yourself - amid the chaos of identity formation’s failing marriage with the pressure to consume. If that 2am “Add to cart” lifestyle has your psyche by the balls (and gazing hopelessly into the void) you may want to talk to your doctor about…… FOTOCOPY.
After a four year hiatus, Kellie Riggs and Julia Walter reintroduce: S04 FOTOCOPY AMS. An essential formula of 13 original and 8 newly added international jewelers and designers offers you the chance to find that sweet spot between uniqueness and belonging, and lets you have that feeling last. Whether riffing on the absurdities of internet culture, the duplicity of Ai, sleeper-cell fashion back to haunt us - and our addiction to all of those things - FOTOCOPY presents jewelry just as special and convoluted as you. Unlike the targeted algorithmic ad garbage you are used to, FOTOCOPY seeks to capture the true zeitgeist of today by giving you pieces that will last forrrreeeevvveeerrrrr. It’s more than an exhibition: experience the thrill of a tactile, cooperative IRL gathering that mocks the regurgitative nature of a narcissistic image economy by making it your very own.
FOTOCOPY AMS has been supplemented with the following Dutch ingredients: three days of canal side festivities including zine making, nail art, and live clog drawing. A slow stoned stroll from your local coffee shop. All the carnal charm of the red light district without the guilt. Side effects include: Reduced doomscrolling harshing your vibe. Increased appetite for Heineken or milk. Newfound passion for art made in de Stijl style. Increased feelings of togetherness and joy.
“If the good times never end, the hard times never exist.”
